About me

I have over 20 years of managing experience that transcends cultures. Additionally, I have a vast experience in training and team building as well as developing leaders. In those 20 years, I have worked both abroad and in the U.S. I have

managed large organizations and start-ups. Furthermore, I have used my facilitation skills designing multi-week

orientations, trainings and team building and strategic planning retreats. In my free time I enjoy

spending it with my family, traveling, reading and being outside.

Coaching is something that has always come naturally to me and I have used the basic components in my day to day work as a manager and leader. Working with individuals and teams to discover that they have the answers is empowering and inspiring. I became an Associated Certified Coach in 2023 from the International Coaching Federation. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, going on adventures, playing games and finding the best Ice Cream joints in every city.

FAQs

  • Coaching is where the client works with a coach to move forward on a part of their life that they

are feeling stuck. The coach starts from the belief that the client is capable of finding their

own solutions and can move forward. Through a series of powerful, open-ended questions,

reflection and active, empathic listening, the coach holds the space where the client works

through what is holding them back. Essentially you are whole and capable of finding your

solutions, which the coach works as a thought partner and advocate to support your achieving

those solutions. A coach will not tell you what to do. A coach will empower you to find the

solutions you have inside of you. No coaching session is complete until there is a move to action

and accountability to hold you to that action is identified.

  • Therapists are trained to work with clients through past trauma and help them to overcome that

trauma. A coach focuses on where the client is at right now and moves the client to action. It is

possible to have both a coach and a therapist at the same time and in fact they can be quite

complimentary. If a coach recognizes that their client can benefit from therapy, a coach will

recommend therapy and not attempt to solve the issue themselves as they are not trained to do

    so.

  • A mentor tends to work with you to provide guidance, advice and support. They work more in

the realm of telling as opposed to facilitating, though there can be overlap. In coaching, the

client is the driver, the coach holds the space. A coach will not tell a client what to do nor offer

    advice.

  • Yes, anybody can be a coach. However as a certified coach, there are rigorous requirements and

training that must be met to be certified. As an Associate Certified Coach, a coach must have

completed 60 hours of classroom training using a curriculum approved by the International

Coaching Federation. Furthermore, they should have done 10 mentor coaching hours where

their coaching is evaluated by a mentor. In addition, a coach must have done 100 one on one,

paid coaching hours with at least 8 clients. When those steps are completed, a coach submits a

recording of their coaching for evaluation and must get 70% on a written exam. By going with a

certified coach, you have the ease of mind that you are working with someone who has

completed a rigorous training to reach that certification.

  • A coach with work with a client to identify what they want to work on in that session. This can

be part of a larger goal they are working through or just what is keeping them stuck that day. A

coaching conversation can be up to an hour, where there are multiple phases of the

conversation that introduces what the client wants to work on, doing a deep dive then moving

to action. The coach is skilled in moving the client through these steps, not rushing the

conversation and helping the client to open up their mind and thought process to find solutions

within themselves. Many clients find it useful to have at least 4-6 sessions with a coach, where

they have identified a larger goal they want to work through and the sessions serve to break it

down into easy to manage parts.

  • A coach does not have to be an expert in any field. The client is the expert; a coach holds the

space for you to do a deeper dive with yourself. However, I have over 20 years of management

experience in overseas development, international trade, agriculture, environment, leadership

and training. I can also be a resource for starting and maintaining a consistent fitness routine. I

have been a hiring manager and understand the hiring process from both ends. My clients have

been from multiple backgrounds and experiences, with many who are going through life

transitions and have used the coaching process to figure out next steps in their life, reaffirm

core beliefs and realize their full potential. In short, my ideal client is someone who is ready to

move forward on what is holding you back and realizing your full potential. Tambien, hablo

    Espanol.
